The Hirslanden Group and the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG) entered into a public-private partnership in 2019 to establish the first outpatient surgical centre of this size in Switzerland. In this way, we offer patients real added value.
Outpatient surgery, where patients can return home on the day of their procedure, is a hot topic at both national and European level. This form of care, in which patients recover faster and also leave hospital more quickly, is one of the national priorities of the Swiss health sector for the coming years.
HUG wanted to join forces with a private partner in 2018 for its project to establish an outpatient surgical centre. They chose the Hirslanden Group, which is represented in Geneva by the two hospitals Clinique La Colline and Clinique des Grangettes.
The construction at 22-24 Avenue Beau-Séjour in Geneva was carried out jointly with the Pension Fund of the State of Geneva (CPEG), the owner of the property. The project was supported by the State Councillor in charge of the Department of Security, Employment and Health (DSES). The Hirslanden Group and HUG are equal shareholders of the outpatient surgical centre.
Thanks to the partnership, the people of Geneva can be offered surgical procedures that are performed quickly and safely by outstanding specialists, allowing patients to return home quickly.
At national level, the Hirslanden Group already manages outpatient surgical centres in Zurich, Lucerne, Bern, St.Gallen and Zumikon.
