This is a certificate for specialists in angiology, who detect and treat vascular diseases with the aid of high-dose X-ray examinations. Diagnostic examinations involve venous and arterial imaging (venography, arteriography or aortography) to detect vascular constrictions or thromboses.

Therapeutic interventions include relieving vascular constrictions with percutaneous angioplasty (vasodilation), or thromboembolectomy (surgical removal of clots) by means of local thrombolysis (clot busting with pharmaceuticals) or inserting a stent.
