Doctors with a specialisation in developmental paediatrics are experts at identifying and treating developmental problems in children and youth. They have in-depth knowledge about normal childhood development and can recognise developmental and behavioural disorders and their causes.
Developmental paediatricians evaluate various aspects of children’s development, such as their growth, motor skills, perception, language, cognitive abilities, emotional development and social behaviour.
They carry out specific developmental paediatric examinations and are well-versed in the full range of inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation measures. They can also answer health insurance questions related to developmental disorders. If necessary, they also collaborate closely with other professionals such as teachers, special education teachers and child/youth psychiatrists.
