The Board of Mediclinic Group (the ‘Group’), Hirslanden’s parent company, acknowledged the decision of Hirslanden-CEO Daniel Liedtke, to depart from the Group and Hirslanden by the end of September 2025 at the latest, and expresses its gratitude for his outstanding contribution to the company. Daniel Liedtke has been put forward by the relevant corporate bodies of Helsana AG to take over as Chair of the Board of Directors from 1 October 2025. The Group has begun its search for a suitable successor.

The Group and Hirslanden have recognised the nomination of Daniel Liedtke as Chair of the Board of Directors of Helsana AG proposed to the Annual General Meeting (‘AGM’) by the relevant bodies. The AGM will make a formal decision on the appointment in May 2025. Once formally appointed, Daniel Liedtke will step down from his duties by September 2025 at the latest and assume his new position on 1 October 2025.

Daniel Liedtke explains his acceptance of the nomination: “I am incredibly proud of the whole team at Hirslanden, who are constantly providing excellent services in the face of a challenging environment day in, day out. I would like to thank all partner doctors as well as employed doctors, nurses, specialists and all other occupational groups in our company, and in particular, the Board of Directors of the Group and my colleagues from the Group and divisional Executive Committees, along with the hospital managers and the Hirslanden Medical Advisory Council who all together make Hirslanden an outstanding health company in Switzerland. Thank you to all of you! I am now about to enter a new phase of life: in future, I will be focusing increasingly on new Board of Directors tasks, where I will be able to contribute my expertise and many years of experience in the healthcare sector.”

Liedtke has been with Hirslanden for almost 25 years, including around six years as Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Hirslanden AG. Prior to that, he held the position as COO of Hirslanden, and Hospital Manager at Klinik Hirslanden in Zurich.

Dr Ronnie van der Merwe, Group CEO, said: “In his various roles, Daniel Liedtke has made an invaluable contribution to both Hirslanden and our Group. I would like to thank Daniel for his exceptional service, the commitment and expertise with which he approached his role and responsibilities over the years, and his dedication to complete ongoing initiatives in the year ahead until his successor is appointed.  We wish Daniel all the best with his future.”

The Group has begun its search for Daniel Liedtke’s successor.
