The quality of the Hirslanden hospitals was honoured in numerous national and international rankings last year. We are honoured to receive top positions in general hospital rankings, as well as for specialist hospitals in areas such as orthopaedics, oncology, cardiology, neurology and obstetrics. We owe our thanks to all employees and medical professionals for their enormous efforts.

Housekeeping Day 2024 – a special day

We would like to thank the housekeeping staff for their invaluable work in our hospitals. They ensure that everyone feels comfortable, act as quiet heroes and heroines in the background, and enjoy the spotlight and recognition they deserve on this day.

New hospital manager for Hirslanden Klinik Aarau

Michael Stettler becomes the new hospital manager of Hirslanden Klinik Aarau, taking over management of Switzerland’s most cost-effective central hospital.

Accreditation of the neonatology service at level IIA for the Clinique des Grangettes Maternity Ward

IIA accreditation makes it possible to provide care for infants from the 34th week of gestational age, but also to continue neonatal care for infants born in a level III facility from the 32nd week of gestational age. It attests to the commitment of the medical care teams and the will of the maternity ward to provide care services that meet the highest standards of safety, quality and comfort.

Andreas Greulich takes over the management of Hirslanden Klinik Birshof. The high-quality specialist hospital for orthopaedics and spinal medicine is one of the most renowned hospitals in the greater Basel area.

Renewal of the ‘Q Label’ Certification of the Clinique des Grangettes Breast Centre

The first private institution in Geneva to receive this award in 2019, the hospital has maintained its standards of excellence and remains committed to providing high-quality treatment that ensures optimal patient care. 

Stem cell transplantation in multiple sclerosis

The Centre for Multiple Sclerosis in Zurich offers blood stem cell transplantation as another treatment option for multiple sclerosis, and is one of the few clinics in Europe to do so.

Hirslanden Precise expands into Western Switzerland

We have expanded our range of genetic examinations geographically and now have a firm base in Biel and Geneva with qualified specialists: Prof. Dr med. Ariane Giacobino looks after people seeking advice in the Lake Geneva region. PD Dr med. Marco Siano receives cancer patients and their relatives for genetic examinations in the Biel region.

TikTok and social media highlights for Hirslanden

We are leaders with the largest TikTok fan base out of all Swiss hospitals! We are particularly pleased to see the success story from Aarau: our TikTok campaign has been recognised as a success story by TikTok for Business. The underlying social media campaign also won first place in the ’Performance’ category at Best of Swiss Web. 

Hirslanden as a leading employer

We are delighted to see that Hirslanden has been recognised as a leading employer in several rankings: we reached first place in the industry ranking of the Service Value study. In addition, according to the Universum Ranking, students consider us among the top 5 employers in the healthcare sector. Furthermore, Hirslanden is the only Swiss healthcare provider in the hospital sector to be awarded the ‘Leader in Diversity’ label. 

Klinik Linde: new emergency centre with increased capacity

With its new emergency centre, Klinik Linde is increasing the medical supply capacity for dealing with emergencies in the region. The centre was inaugurated in the presence of Executive Councillor Pierre Alain Schnegg.

ANNAplus: first stage completed successfully

Creation of the Lausanne Breast Network

Hirslanden Clinique Bois-Cerf and Clinique Cecil, Clinique de La Source and the Lausanne Breast Network Association have combined their expertise to create the Lausanne Breast Network, an unprecedented partnership in the private sector in Switzerland. The aim is to adopt an integrative approach to care, while ensuring the highest standards in breast medicine.

Hirslanden shows its colours – for more sustainability in the operating room

To celebrate International SDG Flag Day, we are clearly committed to the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. We are committed to acting sustainably and taking responsibility for current and future generations. Together with our partner Johnson & Johnson, we help to ensure responsible consumption and production (Goal 12) by collecting and recycling used surgical instruments. This allows high-quality materials such as steel, titanium, aluminium and chrome-plated steel to be reused and recycled.  

Identification of the ‘Imageable Genome’

The research group led by Prof. Dr Martin Walter, a specialist in nuclear medicine at Klinik St. Anna, identified new imaging test possibilities for a wide range of human diseases using positron emission tomography (PET).

Founding of the Bern Prosthetics Centre

Hirslanden Bern and four partner doctors are working together to establish the first centre of its kind in Switzerland, focusing exclusively on hip and knee prosthetics at the highest quality level.

Throughout the group, we draw attention to the importance of the prevention, early screening and treatment of breast cancer through numerous campaigns and events, both online and offline. As part of one such event, a large number of employees displayed a sign at the Pink Ribbon Charity Walk. No times were measured at this 16th edition of the four-kilometre breast cancer solidarity run, which is about solidarity with those affected.

Charitable operations save lives in Georgia

Our partner doctor Prof Dr med. Jan Schmidt and his team carried out 18 kidney transplants on a charitable basis on children and adults at the University Hospital in Tbilisi.

Dr med. Thomas Bührer, formerly deputy hospital manager and Head of the Medical System of Hirslanden Bern, becomes the new hospital manager of Klinik Beau-Site, Salem-Spital and Klinik Permanence.

The Centre for Sports Medicine and Exercise at Hirslanden Clinique La Colline, which has been certified by Swiss Olympic as a medical centre, is now supporting Camille Losserand of Switzerland in her sports training. Dr Vincent Burki is helping her to reach new levels in her championship career.

Opening of the Linde Dialysis Centre

Klinik Linde and the Centre for Urology and Nephrology (ZUN) are opening a modern dialysis centre with a view of the countryside, offering patients from the Biel-Seeland-Bernese Jura area outpatient and inpatient haemodialysis near to their homes.

Congratulations for completing apprenticeships

Up to 80 percent of all infectious diseases are transmitted through the hands. Hirslanden took various measures to raise awareness of this important issue among employees, visitors and patients on the campaign day.

The Neuro-Oncological Centre at Klinik Hirslanden is certified according to the guidelines of the German Cancer Society (‘Deutsche Krebsgesellschaft’, DKG) – proof of outstanding quality processes and higher chances of survival in cancer treatments.

5 years of Breast Centre Bern Biel, opening of the Biel location

The Bern Biel Breast Centre, which is certified by the Cancer League, has been offering comprehensive care for five years. With the opening of the Centre for Women, the Breast Centre is also joined by a practice in Biel.

Opening of the Centre for Internal Medicine Lausanne

The Centre for Internal Medicine Lausanne, located within the Hirslanden hospitals in Lausanne, aims to support its patients throughout their hospitalisation. Composed of a team of five internists, it ensures an optimal link between hospital care and the attending doctor.
