Around 900 women are diagnosed with uterine (endometrial) cancer in Switzerland every year. Women who have gone through menopause are primarily affected by uterine cancer and the risk increases with age.
The uterus or womb is the muscular, hollow organ in which a child grows during pregnancy. It consists of the corpus and the cervix. Uterine cancer develops from abnormal cells in the uterine lining (endometrium). That is why the disease is also known as endometrial cancer.
