The foetus is now around 18 cm long and its body appears more elongated. The head still makes up about one third of its overall body size. Slowly the immune system starts to form: in the future it will protect the child against infections.
You might start feeling your child moving inside the womb. Experienced mothers can sometimes feel their baby earlier, as they already know what it feels like and which signs to look for.
Don’t worry if you do not feel your child moving for long periods at a time. After all, it sleeps for up to 20 hours a day. The foetus will be particularly active when you stay still for longer periods of time, as is often the case in the evening.
