Cecil Obesity and Metabolism Centre is a bariatric centre of excellence accredited by the SMOB. It cares for patients who wish to receive multidisciplinary treatment for obesity.
Accredited since 2014 by the Swiss Society for the Study of Morbid Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (SMOB) as a bariatric centre of excellence for obesity management, Cecil Obesity and Metabolism Centre offers multidisciplinary care in surgery and post-operative follow-up for obesity as well as metabolic disorders in cooperation with doctors working at Hirslanden Lausanne, and Bois-Cerf and Cecil hospitals.
The centre is made up of a team of specialists in general and visceral surgery who work in cooperation with specialists in gastroenterology, diabetology, endocrinology, reconstructive surgery, general internal medicine, psychiatry and nutrition. It benefits from being close to Hirslanden Lausanne Emergency Department, as well as the Intensive Care Unit at Clinique Cecil recognised by SSMI.
Dr Alfred Blaser and Dr Jean-Marie Calmes, doctors working at Hirslanden Lausanne, are the responsible surgeons accredited by SMOB. They see patients for appointments at their offices in Lausanne and Nyon. Nyon Multidisciplinary Obesity Centre is a partner of Clinique Cecil.
Outpatient treatments are available to all patients with basic insurance. Procedures requiring admission to hospital are covered by private and semi-private insurance and mandatory health insurance (AOS), depending on the canton.
