The specialty of rheumatology involves the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the musculoskeletal system. These are degenerative or inflammatory changes of the spinal column and joints, soft tissue rheumatic disorders or those caused by overloading, metabolic diseases, the effects of underlying internal or orthopaedic diseases on the musculoskeletal system as well as their rehabilitation.
Besides treatment with medications, the adjustments and monitoring of physiotherapy treatments, manual therapy for the spinal column and joints, irrigation/needling of shoulder calcifications, osteoporosis workups and treatments, ergonomic assessments and recommendations, trigger point treatment, postoperative rehabilitation, injection treatments of the spine and joints as well as diagnosis and treatment of unctional disorders and pain therapy are some of the therapy procedures.
Patient care may be either ambulatory or stationary.
There is close collaboration with the other competence centres of the Hirslanden Movement Clinic. The Hirslanden Rheuma Centre is a part of the Hirslanden Movement Clinic.
