Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) affects 5 to 7% of school-aged children. Since May 2011, a multidisciplinary ADHD consultation has been created at the Clinique des Grangettes.
A diversity of disorders
ADHD can come in many forms. Its complete form combines difficulty concentrating with motor hyperactivity and manifestations of impulsivity. It can also be present in the form of a simple attention deficit. The disorders associated with ADHD are diverse and common. These can be learning disabilities (dyslexia, dyspraxia etc.) or psychological difficulties (anxiety, depression etc.). A multidisciplinary approach to the patient is therefore desirable both at the time of diagnosis and during management.
A multidisciplinary approach
A multidisciplinary ADHD consultation was created on the site of the Cliniques des Grangettes and received support from the ADHD Insight Foundation from 2011 to 2014. Since November 2014, multidisciplinary consultation continues, but now in a network: children and adolescents with academic difficulties and / or behavioral disorders compatible with the diagnosis of ADHD are examined by a specialized team, including Dr. Caroline Menache Starobinski, pediatric neurologist, whose practice is at the Clinique des Grangettes, as well as Dr. Inès Danville Sappino child psychiatrist and Ms. Sarah Leopizzi, neuropsychologist, who see patients in their private consulting rooms located downtown.
