So-called structural cardiology interventions focus on the four heart valves, at the level of the left auricle as well as on interatrial and interventricular septal defects.
Routine interventions are characterized by 4 procedures :
- Aortic valve replacement (TAVI)
- Mitral valve repair with edge-to-edge clipping (TEER)
- Closure of the permeable foramen ovale (FOP/CIA)
- Closure of the left auricle
Degenerative diseases of the heart valves, related to aging, can manifest themselves by a progressive decline in physical capacity, difficulty breathing and chest pain during exertion, as well as rhythm disorders. They are typically the target of this type of intervention and an accurate and complete assessment often involves several examinations.
Hirslanden Clinique des Grangettes offers comprehensive care in the assessment, therapy and follow-up of patients with heart valve diseases by an interdisciplinary team of clinical cardiologists, imaging specialists, interventional cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons.
The indication for a percutaneous structural cardiology intervention is based on an assessment of the patient and his symptoms by a multidisciplinary team ("Heart Team"), which integrates the results of different examinations such as echocardiography, computed tomography, scintigraphy or magnetic resonance imaging, as well as by hemodynamic measurements during cardiac catheter examination.
We want to improve the quality and life expectancy of the patient, through structural cardiac interventions by catheter, performed by an experienced team, on the heart valves.
